Australian Architectural Hardwoods is committed to the ethics of a sustainable industry with minimal impacts on our natural environment. Our facility operates with the following features.

AAH Solar Panels

Energy Use

We draw our principal electricity from a 200 kilowatt solar array. Depending on the prevailing weather conditions, we are typically nett exporters to the grid.

Sewage Waste

All grey sewage water is processed on-site by our envirocycle system. The treated effluent is used to irrigate our native bush and rainforest regeneration areas.

Wood Waste

All untreated sawdust and shavings are composted and used as a soil conditioner.

Local Environment

We are on a 20 hectare site of which 75% is exisiting mature eucalypt forest and 10% is being revegetated following a main roads acquisition. We have planted over 2000 trees in this process.

Heating & Drying without fossil fuels

We kiln dry our timber when required in either a solar panel heated kiln or a waste wood fired kiln.

Inorganic Waste

We recycle ~250 tonnes per annum of metal extracted from our timber, including steel, aluminium, stainless steel, and copper.

Water Use

Roof rain water is harvested and stored on-site. This water is used for wood processing, re-forestation irrigation, and factory use. No mains water is used.
